Phase I Project Plan: Prescott Valley Family Support Center & Prevent Child Abuse Arizona Headquarters

Prevent Child Abuse Arizona headquarters (4,739 square feet), including reception/waiting area, administrative offices, and conference room.

  • Total cost of project: $2 million.
  • Funding needed: $1.25 million (a lead gift of $750,000 has already been received).

Future Planning: Subsequent construction phases, when completed, will provide approximately 40,000 additional square feet of (leased) office spaces within the completed complex, housing a comprehensive array of services in support of healthy children and young families, such as Arizona’s Children Association, Arizona Department of Economic Security (which provides child care subsidies, job training and more to young parents in need) and other child/ family services partner organizations and agencies.

Project History and Timeline:
1999 To address community needs, Prevent Child Abuse Arizona (PCA Arizona) leases from the Town of Prescott Valley its former town hall and library buildings and surrounding vacant land.
2000 PCA Arizona opens the Yavapai Family Advocacy in the former library building, partnering with local law enforcement agencies in a coordinated response for victims of family violence.
2006 PCA Arizona begins active planning for a Family Support Center complex on the leased property; applies for required zoning change.
2007 Site and architectural planning is finalized; zoning change is approved.
2008 Phase I construction set to begin late summer, with groundbreaking in August.
2009 Phase I construction completed at summer’s end, with ribbon-cutting planned for September.
